Much of Luke 1 never shows up in the Lectionary, and certainly not in order. And yet, it is an important part of the background of the Christmas story. It is also, I believe, a good series for Advent, the season of waiting for the coming of Christ. Zechariah, Elizabeth, and Mary are certainly waiting for Jesus!
